Intercessory Prayer Ministry

 

definition:

The act of praying on behalf of others. It’s selfless or self-giving prayer.

 

mission and motto:

“We stand in the gap,” meaning we as intercessors bridge the gap between our church & God by praying on its behalf. We are imitating Jesus, who is the intermediary between us and God.

 

values:

o        Our prayers will be in unity, Spirit-led, submitted and humble.

o        We will let God be in control of our praying by releasing our prayers to Him after we pray.

o        We will be sensitive to God’s heart and will for the people we are praying for.

o        We will be faithful and committed in our prayers.

 

purpose:

o        To minister, support and encourage our church by interceding through prayer for our leadership and all ministries and/or activities connected with CLC.

o        To educate/train/teach on intercessory prayer, so others can effectively intercede for their ministries.

 

vision statement:

      “To develop a community of intercessors, which will spur spiritual growth within each other and in our relationships with God.”

 

what the team does:

Provides prayer coverage/support for ministries and church through:

 

·        Monthly meetings and individual inter cession at home

·        Pre-service prayer times

 

Grow as intercessors by:

 

·        Teachings at monthly meetings

·        Interceding at monthly meetings and retreats

·        Inviting special speakers to teach about prayer

·        Attending prayer conferences

 

Expand our team by choosing new members through the discernment of leaders or through referrals (Network, etc.)

 

Educate the congregation about prayer by modeling and praying at Board meetings and in worship service

 

goals:

·        Provide more prayer support for the pastors, Board members and leaders

·        Provide resources and teach others about prayer through meetings, seminars and/or Sunday School

·        Expand the team by recruiting new people

 

prayer requests:

Please pray for the Lord’s protection and for perseverance in our prayers for the church. Also, pray that the Lord will develop in us a great passion, love and longing for Jesus.
